Planning a Mother’s Day Tea Party

Boy, do I love tea! I could drink it all day and most of the time, I do! I get the love of tea from my mother, like most things, and I thought I would create a little party for my mother since we are quarantined with each other. We started a mother/daughter tradition when I was a freshman in college, where we would go to tea when she was visiting me after a sorority mother/daughter tea fell through. Since then, we try to participate in an annual tea in the spring to commemorate our love for one another. While I would have loved to go out for tea this year, I thought I could recreate it at home!

Heck, if I can recreate tea at home, so can you too! The design all came from a teapot I was given at my bridal shower. I would have loved to wander around vintage stores looking for teacups, but I wanted to use what I had. I was able to find matching cups for my tea kettle, and I was thrilled. I purchased the matching mug and a tablecloth but was able to use everything else I have. Those bridal shower presents DO come in handy let me tell you!

My mom knew I was preparing afternoon tea, but I do not think she was anticipating the spread! She was really blown away, AND it gave us a reason to wear makeup and put on a dress again. I added a few of my own personal touches but using my maternal grandmother’s silverware and getting some fresh blooms. She passed away last June, and this was my mom’s first Mother’s Day without her. I also used Canva to create the perfect menu because I had to go all out. I also got a gorgeous bouquet from Flowers on Broad Street and put them in a vintage pitcher

I made the egg salad meets avocado toast, cucumber dill sandwiches, quiche (my mom’s recipe!), and clotted cream myself. Would you be interested in me posting the recipes so you too can recreate this very spread?
